What can Acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture can be very effective at treating many health conditions. Below are areas of health I regularly treat in clinic.
Women’s health
The delicate complexities of female health is an area of special interest to me. Whilst we go through life understanding the key milestones of menstruation to menopause, quite often we battle through and put up with an array of symptoms that have been normalised.
Acupuncture can support and in a lot of cases, remove symptoms associated with female health and the cycles we go through.
Do you need support with your menstrual cycle?
Are you suffering every month with painful / heavy / difficult periods and PMS?
Have you been diagnosed with endometriosis, PCOS?
Have you recently had a baby and are struggling with physical and emotional symptoms?
Are you approaching or experiencing the menopause and struggling with symptoms?
If you are answering yes to any of the above questions, you may want to consider a course of acupuncture treatment where we can work together with your cycle and your symptoms.
Emotional health and wellbeing
In today’s world, many of us find ourselves juggling all aspects of life, often causing emotional unrest and ill health simply due to the stress put upon our mind and body.
Acupuncture can take a subtle approach to your emotional wellbeing, helping to support the way your body can cope with anxiety, low mood, stress, and depression. Treatment can work alongside any other medical treatment you are undergoing or we can look to using TCM and acupuncture as an alternative way to support yourself.
Headaches and migraines
Are you suffering with ongoing headaches and migraines that are affecting day to day life? Both of which can often be a sign of an underlying issue. Whether acute or chronic, acupuncture can help to address the root cause and restore the balance needed to help manage regular headaches and migraines.
Digestive issues
Digestive health is incredibly important for overall wellbeing and unfortunately many people suffer from diagnosed conditions and in lots of cases, are just suffering quietly and medicating where they can.
Acupuncture can provide relief from the symptoms often associated with digestive health conditions like IBS and IBD – i.e. Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. Treatment can help to regulate the gut, reduce inflammation, and help with pain that often comes with these health issues.
In addition, do you suffer with heartburn, reflux symptoms or just general digestive niggles? Again, these symptoms are often the physical manifestation of a disharmony in the body which acupuncture and some lifestyle changes can collectively treat.
Sleep and insomnia
Sleep is another aspect of life that can be overlooked in terms of its importance, but we can all recognise the implications when we are not getting enough sleep. Difficulty sleeping, trouble falling asleep, regular wake ups during the night, waking too early – are any of these familiar?
They can all then lead to potentially debilitating daytime fatigue, impacting our mood and our means of operating day to day.
TCM and acupuncture will take a different angle to address the root cause of these sleep issues and following a course of treatment we would hope to see a shift in your sleep patterns.
Musculoskeletal pain
Have you been experiencing short or long-term pain or a niggly ache that will not go away?
Acupuncture can help with pain relief, reduce inflammation, relieve muscle tension, and move ‘stagnation’ to help you with your pain and enable you to get back to some normality with your movement and mobility. In TCM, there is often an ‘imbalance’ in the body which is causing the pain and so we can look to address this and treat accordingly.
Seasonal illness and allergies
Acupuncture is very effective at supporting and boosting the immune system, to enable prevention of common colds and illnesses during the seasons of the year. Sometimes, we just need that extra bit of help! Along with some dietary and lifestyles changes, we can alleviate common symptoms associated with seasonal illnesses and allergies.
